Gift of the Heart @ AMK

Hands Together II - Gift of the Heart is a collaboration between the Informatics & IT Studies Club (IITSC) and Cheng San Community Centre (CSCC) Youth Executive Committee (YEC) with the help from other Studies Clubs as well as IIT's Student Interest Groups.

Volunteers collected canned food and dry rations for the beneficiaries within Cheng San Estate. The flyer distribution was held on the 4th Feb in which helpers went door-to-door to notify the residents of the collections. Our committee set up a booth outside the library to raise donations in which many generous lecturers and students donated many dry rations. The collection was held on the 11th Feb at Cheng San CC.

The helpers were allocated to different estates to collect the donations. Helpers got to interact with the public ranging from ages and challenged their language barriers.A sense of satisfaction could be seen on the faces of our volunteers. Even though many helpers were tired from the collection, many of them stayed behind and helped out with the sorting and delivery of collected items.

We are very grateful to all the clubs and inidividuals who stepped forward to support the community in every way. Thank you for making this possible :)

Technology Day 2012

This year's Technology Day was in collobration with Singapore Computer Society(SCS) Student Chapter. A dialogue session was held in TP with the topic "Be An Asipring IT Entrepreneur". Students were invited from IIT School and also the different Student Chapters.

The speakers for the session were Mr Leslie Loh, Singapore Computer Society IT Leader Award winner in 2006,Founder/CEO of Red Dot Ventures and Mr Chak Kong Soon, President of Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Chapter. Mr Adrian Chye, chairman of Young Professional's Chapter was the moderator for the session.

The guests had a fun time interacting with the speakers and managed to get their queries answered. It was an interactive and fun afternoon for everyone and guests were motivated by their speeches.

Gift of the Heart 2012 (GOH) - TP COLLECTION

Informatics & IT Studies Club further spreads the word of charity :)

Gift of the Heart is a Community Service project which TP students are involved in together with the Cheng San Community Club Youth Executive Committee. IIT Studies Club (IITSC) is co-ordinating this project (previously named City of Sharing). The project entails the collection of canned food items for needy families in collaboration with Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre (AMK FSC) and PAVE (Promoting Alternatives to Violence). IITSC and students from all Schools and Perfect 10 Clubs are involved in this collection drive.

How to Donate
A booth will be set up outside the TP Library from 6-10 Feb 2012, 10am to 6pm daily (except for 9 Feb, when the booth will close at 1pm).

Donations from staff, students and alumni would be greatly appreciated.

What to Donate

DRY RATIONS
Rice, Noodles, Sugar, Biscuits, Cereal, etc.

CANNED FOOD
Meat, Vegetables, Fruit, Sardines, etc.

BEVERAGES
Milo, Coffee, Oats, Tea, etc.
